About this deal

These embroidery-ready transfers make it super-simple to stitch beautiful, meditative mandalas for any craft. Etsy’s 100% renewable electricity commitment includes the electricity used by the data centres that host Etsy. This means that all the designs can be simply ironed onto your fabric, saving you the hassle of transferring the design by hand.

If you use the iron-on transfers, you can skip all that and be ready to start embroidering right away! The book is split into two halves: the first half includes clearly-illustrated stitch tutorials, instructions for preparing and finishing your work, and all the patterns, with colour palettes and stitching suggestions. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. This is a good thing – the relaxed nature of the design felt like permission to be relaxed in the execution – there’s no need to make every stitch exactly even and perfect to get a beautiful result. Not all are stitched on white which is good, and there are some ideas as to what to stitch them onto if you dont just want to leave them in hoop frames. You could easily follow the instructions to the letter and end up with a beautiful piece but Carina encourages readers to experiment to come up with their unique piece using different colours and stitches. I even thought maybe it was the wrong type of fabric but it was just the same on other types I tried.

Each beautiful mandala is accompanied by simple stitch diagrams and keys, and a corresponding transfer sheet at the back for easy stitching. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Suggestions for colors and stitches are provided, but stitchers can customize based on individual preferences. There are twelve large (about 6) mandalas and twelve small (about 2) ones, each shown stitched and as a color diagram which gives the stitches used and DMC threads. With Carina's gentle guidance beginners can also learn how to display their creations in embroidery hoops, including the much-loved Dandelyne hoops which the 12 mini mandalas can fit inside perfectly.

You dont need much either; just cotton fabric, floss, a hoop and off you go (although if you really are new to this I recommend practising on a scrap of cloth before tackling a pattern). Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

Only 10 stitches have been used to create all the mandalas, and each one is explained and accompanied by clear, step-by-step diagrams at the beginning of the book. Floral motifs figure prominently, including seasonal designs featuring cherry blossoms and poinsettias, as well as stylized and Scandinavian-style flowers. Although Mandalas to Embroider includes 12 mini designs, I decided to jump right into one of the 12 full-sized designs.

The circular nature of the patterns means they fit perfectly in an embroidery hoop, making the finished pieces easy to display. There are 12 large designs (sized to fit perfectly in 6 inch embroidery hoops) and 12 small designs, which you can use as decorative motifs on other sewing projects or frame in mini Dandelyne hoops (if you've not heard of these, they're fab mini embroidery-hoop style frames perfect for making embroidered necklaces and other jewellery). It can be a teeny bit awkward when a friend asks you to review their book - I mean, what if you don't like it? They book would suit beginners and more experienced stitchers - there are 10 different embroidery stitches to use and each is really well explained with clear diagrams.
