About this deal

What I will say is that I still use a leaf rake to collect the leaves into a pile first or use the leaf blower. Keeping our lawns and paths clear of leaves and garden debris can become a gruelling task, particularly in the autumn months. Mostly just build quality but I cover the different types of leaf grabbers and their pros and cons below. Make light work of collecting leaves, grass cuttings and other debris with these long handled grabs. This is a good choice of leaf grabber if you like multi-purpose tools so that you don’t have to use a rake and then switch to a grabber to gather your leaves and pick them up.

The handles pivot around each other each with a bolt that helps to stabilise and strengthen the frame. The idea is to use the rake portion, usually on the front side of the gloves, to rake the leaves together and then squash the leaves together between the gloves and put them into your collection bag and bin. These leaf grabbers measure 34cm x 50cm so they're a decent size, ideal for picking up plenty of mulch, garden waste and leaves in one go.

If you would prefer a more traditional method of collecting leaves, opt for an aluminium garden rake, as these will be lightweight and the least straining. If you have smaller gardens, then I would probably recommend just going with the Darlac leaf grabber and saving some money.

They are tough yet lightweight, easy to work with and made of tubular steel and strong plastic that will help protect the hands from thorns, cuts and mess, and your back from unnecessary strain. If you're worried about the comfort of the hard plastic, why not try them with a pair of trusty gardening gloves? Being a self employed gardener I was skeptical about long reach leaf grabbers thinking they would be flimsy and not able to pick up large amounts. A clever design and one to think about if you're fed up of suffering from backache after a day in the garden. There are two different leaf grabber options to consider: the glove style and the long-handled style. Unlike the other leaf grabbers in my review, the Orientools Leaf Grabber Hand Rake is a hand tool that you wear on your hands.

We have been using the Darlac Grab n Lift for a few years now and find it to be a brilliant piece of kit. This is not the most sturdy design and construction so you need to be a bit careful when using it but its lasted me years. Sometimes, these glove grabbers are so large that you don’t have to bend down far to pick up the leaves.

Leave the bag somewhere out of sight, such as behind the shed, to break down for up to two years, and use as a soil conditioner for your garden – a hassle-free winter gardening task. I also use them in my family’s small garden centre, where mature trees surround us, and with them come the masses of leaves every autumn. The teeth on the bottom of the rake ensure a more thorough clean up, and the two hinged scoops come together so you can move a hefty amount of garden waste. We've included a mix of both leaf grabber designs in our roundup so you can find a suitable match for your needs and outdoor space.
