About this deal

Remi has a friend, Aubrey, Remi tells Brick she thinks Spencer and Aubrey like each other when they break up at 16. So, Remi and Brick finally discuss WHY he has rejected her for a decade, WHY he married her BFF, WHY he made out with her and think they were something then ditched town overnight.

but the h having once been with his brother and him having married her best friend is a little too much keeping it in the family for me. Brick was hard to understand, he had been attracted to Remi since she was sixteen, but as he was nine years older he knew that the age difference was too great. A moody stoic H who loved the h but felt he wouldn’t be good enough for her so kept himself at arms distance emotionally. The way Remi eventually revealed what happened to her was not entirely what I was expecting, but it left me feeling in suspense especially because, in the midst of Remi being back home on the island… things weren’t exactly safe for her yet.I will say that as the story progressed, I was happy to see Remi and Brick talk things out, and really put more effort into their relationship, especially with Remi trying to show Brick just how much she cared about him, and that she wanted more from him than just physical intimacy. The only thing was with Remi, Brick couldn’t help himself with either wanting her so badly that he tried to distance himself from her , he felt like his world was turned upside, and he also craved her attention. I cringed so hard when the heroine took it upon herself to apologize to her backstabbing hs bff not only slept with the hero, but married him. Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents' dinner table.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This was an extremely well thought out, in-depth and detailed story, filled with so many layers and amazing character development. This is the first time I don't finish a book by Lucy and the second time I wonder if it was written by the same Lucy of the Blue Moon series, so I guess I have to face the fact that she is not only capable but very good at writing misogynistic crap. This book had everything I loved and could have wanted, but also introduced me to things I didn’t know I wanted. Why is the elephant in the room only dealt with at the end of the book and with absolutely no fanfare - I waited the whole book through for the verbal showdown between the h and ow, but no….

On the flip side, the woman causing all of this need and conflict always had feelings for this man but every time something might have finally happened between them. They eventuallyyyyyy pull finger, the bad guy comes to town and the confrontation occurs amid all sorts of other silly page-filling nonsense.

Even though she tried to convince me over and over again that she wanted me and wanted my love, I teased her and taunted her for years, but ultimately rejected her completely and repeatedly. I just can’t with her making up with hero after a pretty damaging fight in the second half like it wasn’t his fault.

For all the times, Brick and Remi were tempted to take their attraction to the next step, Brick was the one who always hesitated because, one, he felt like he couldn’t be the person Remi wanted to be (Brick’s words), and in Brick’s mind the fact that Remi was his brother’s high school sweetheart, Ex wife’s best friend, and boss’s daughter, he felt like it would have been over complicated with Remi. I feel like this book could have been a reasonable length if the aqueous, protracted, acrobatic sex scenes were just trimmed to some normal people slap and tickle. It’s interesting how something can be pushed just a touch too far and suddenly seem annoying and ridiculous.
