About this deal

Factor in the dated electronic embellishments of Race To Mars and the face-screwingly twee twinkles on All My Friends, and what’s already the most sanitised, marketable approximation of the genre becomes even more difficult to stomach. But yeah, I'd never thought I'd see the day when a Busted album is heavier than a Bring Me The Horizon album.

Yes, at times, the album does feel dated – a drawback of an album based on nostalgia – and yes, it can be difficult to determine where the group fits into the modern musical landscape, but Half Way There is so uniquely Busted that it doesn’t really matter. Ahead of the album release Busted teased fans with the release of tracks Nineties, Reunion, All My Friends and Radio but the first official single, Radio, didn’t arrive until last month. As a side note – Radio could quite possibly be one of the best singles to come out in 2019 – fight me. That’s about it for me though so it’s interesting entering my first busted album with it being a comeback. Is a eulogy for the Busted of old – penned by James Bourne following on from the era-defining breakup of the three-piece, a triumph in songwriting as Bourne cuts himself open and exposes his headspace at that time for all to see. They also get a little bit more autobiographical than we’ve heard before such as on early stand out What Happened to Your Band, which charts the band’s initial split. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

And that’s exactly what the lads have done with this exceptional, exhilarating and at times moving album. What happened to your band was originally performed with Son of Dork way back in 2007 and then appeared on McBusted's album in 2014. Please explain how All The Right Reasons by Nickelback (which was certified Diamond in the US and sold 10,000,000 copies) is a good album.

The track "What Happened to Your Band" was previously performed live by one of James Bourne's other bands, Son of Dork back in 2007. In 2005 the band went their separate ways when Charlie Simpson decided to leave and pursued their own projects until Matt Willis and James Bourne joined forces with McFly to make supergroup McBusted in 2013. This is our first official single off the record, the other stuff was kind of given out to [the] fan base to kind of entice them, but this is the first 'big boy' single, so enjoy it. It’s a rush of melody and effervescent riffs as they blend huge arena-filling choruses with the classic pop-punk sound of Blink 182 and New Found Glory. The new record saw them work with their dream producer Gil Norton, who has previously worked with the likes of Foo Fighters and Pixies.
